Engine oil change
Just for the sake of discussion, I performed an engine oil change (5000 mi) on my RGS. I found I only used a little over the Harley Gallon. I needed an additional pint over the gallon. I took plenty of time draining the engine of oil. Even sitting on the bike with it up right for a few minutes. (I rode the bike to get oil, so it was plenty hot.) The level as of this morning cold is right in the middle of the Check hot on Jiffy stand, right above the little arrow to the right on the dip stick. Has anyone else noticed any difference in their amount of oil. Second question, I put on a K&N HD 1717 air filter, Do they need to be oiled before installation ? I noticed the cleaning kit has a cleaner and oil ?

4.25 qts on oil change gets me 3/4 HOT on Jiffy stand setting, yours sounds fine...K&N comes pre-oiled..buy the cleaning kit, and a spare 1717 so you can just swap and clean at your convenience..nice to have one always ready to go
