There's probably room for improvement with just a 3rd party tune. Better intake another incremental increase, and hi-flow exhaust a bit more.
Being a new engine, new frame, new everything, I'm playing it safe and have ordered the components for Stage I & II (torque cam), having the dealer install it during the first 60 days, and having the dealer register the upgrades so that they're all covered by warranty.
I hope it won't suck. I don't expect radical results, but I hope I'll be satisfied enough. The motor is already very strong. I'm hoping this wakes it up fully.
I think though, if it were disappointing, that swapping-in a 3rd-party tuner later would likely make a world of difference. But hopefully I'll be happy, the MoCo will be happy, the EPA will be happy, and the wallet will stay in my pocket once this is done.
kind of under the impression that these two statements are related and the reason to purchase the tuner and their map, they have already accomplished completing the second statement..???
To be honest I'm not exactly sure how much dyno time if any FM has ona 110" with a thunderheader.. Seems like a lot of their charts are based upon SE cannons, Jackpot headers and Rineharts.
I looked but didn't see anything with thunderheader related but I'm positive they have enough experience to get me close.
It's a total waste of money to tune an M8 with stock pipes and intake. I know some of you dont care about your warranty I get that but the stock M8 runs soo good. Now put on catless pipes and a intake sure you will need to tune and you will pick up a few horse power as well (up to 10 hp 10ft torque).

You're probably right. The slight improvement of a tuner-only would not be worth the money plus losing the warranty. These motors run great and pull hard stock.
