Bike has been running weird lately, Then I notice a new noise to go with it. I have been in the garage running the bike and listening to this new sound. Then it hit me, it sounds like a spark snap. Nailed it, right rear plug wire burnt thru and arching on the valve cover, its quite a jump too. Glad I did not feel around there with the bike running.
I call four dealers in North West WA, Not only do none have any wires, none of the parts guys even knew there are four plugs now. So my dealer will at least borrow one of a new bike for me tomorrow.
Once I had my wife hold onto a plug wire while I kicked, thats a different story and yes she is still with me.

You funny !
Anyone who's been dumb enough to do the same will get a giggle out of that one.
Yes I did it once to myself.

that is funny, I learned in the 70's racing mx it isn't smart to pull the plug wire while it's running..
I've seen that issue. The zip tie that is frame mounted that holds the wire for the right rear cylinder spark plug broke and the spark plug wire did the same thing bouncing off the rocker cover.
Crazy how missing one of the two plug leads makes it sound like one of the lifters is faulty and engine failure is imminent!Happened to me when the Dealer activated the Oil cooler and Comfort fans.Rode it home and straight back thinking of all kinds of consequences!
luckily our Master Tech zoomed right in on it, Phew!
No engine Trouble light activation, like on the older models?
Nice diagnostic work! You just accomplished what many techs might have a lot of trouble doing. It's sad there are techs at HD stores who are unaware the M8 has two plugs per cyl.
The dealer tech reminds me of the "Always wanted to work on a foreign transmission" commercial.
It is sad. When I made the calls my wife was standing beside me, Hearing my conversation she is rolling her eyes. Wife said its funny that I always know more about my bike than the Dealers, and I have to school them.
Reminds me of the girl and Napa, asked if my Vette had four doors
