Default zumo vs Nav

Granted there is quite a learning curve with the Nav and I have only skimmed the encyclopedia on it enough to get around but dang. Why the post. Always keep my bike units, zumo and Roadtech set to shortest route unless I am on a long trip.

Today I knew where I was going on the new bike but thought I would just see if there was much of a difference and was I ever surprised. On the zumo it would have taken me a normal straight shortest route. The Nav took me on some crazy stuff, even a bit over a mile of gravel road which I could have done without since the bike was clean. Granted it was interesting and fun but almost like someone changes the setting from shortest to most twisty route.

That was interesting but now what I dislike about Nav. The lack of information as well as display. The zumo like any other GPS pretty clearly displays curves in the road, waterways you are approaching and more that the Nav does not. Also can't seem to make up its mind if it wants to tell me the next turn is in 800 yards or 1/2 mile. Just goofy stuff I will get used to and deal with but have used motorcycle GPS for so long this is a bit of an irritant.

The Zumo was much more user friendly for me but I'm slowly getting used to the HD Nav. Make sure all of the settings are the way you want them, but it's still a little sketchy.

Ill stay with my Navi why spend more money. I just need to learn how to use it better. Zumo is for the pro rider who’s on the road touring i know people who have them they do a lot with them. Most who have them are on motorcycles not equipped with any type of. Equipment.

First you need to make sure the setting are correct the way you want to travel on the nav....if you have turned highways off how can you expect to travel using highways...people don't know to set up the nav correctly....
Second...if i want to travel from NYCity to Boston and i know i want to go through Hartford, why would i want to put Boston as a final destination....two ways to do it, put Hartford as a way point OR first leg NYcity to Hartford, second leg Hartford to Boston....programmers are not mind readers...use the nav as it is programmed.
It's not that bad....

Don't know why they want to reinvent their own new wheel?
Zumo is universally accepted and reliable. It is user friendly and does not require books or expensive video assistance to use it properly. The Zumo speed indication is accurately calculated by GPS and discloses a 5% over read by all Harley speedos.
Harley touring units speed indication is driven off this same inaccurate device and will fail if the speedo sender us unplugged!
