HD technicians are "supposed" to connect your bike to the digital technician with every service but I'm telling you, that does not happen unless they have a need to connect. Most dealerships have a much smaller ratio of digital technicians to actual techs turning wrenches. Sorry but that's just how it works. Yes, they should check to see if your ECM is flashed with the current version but unless you complain of an issue, it won't happen.
I dont dout that a bit. Im sure they cut cornerd every way they can. But not all im sure. I wanna believe there is still a few folks out there that take pride in there work no matter there field and do the best they can at what they do. I tell you i get lied to anymore just about as much as i get told the truth in places like harley dealerships. Which is sad.
The latest ECM updates came in mid August 2017. My software automatically updated and I flashed the ECM a few days later with a couple of smart tune sessions.
I am usually very cautious of the updates unless there is a good reason. I have had bad luck with some in the past. Mine runs so darn good that I am not interested in any changes to it. Mine was built on 8/16.
Yep same build date 8/16 on my RK and see no need to change it. First Harley I have left stock!
Does it idle at 950? Picked mine up in June, build date 5/17 and mine didn't. Took it back to dealer and asked I thought you were supposed to check ECM as part of prep? Guess what, Tech must have missed that! I asked what else did he miss? SM got a Tech and redid Prep Checklist.

Yea i know. But if i go stage 1 the cat will be gone and i will run my power vision off my other bike since i already have one. I have heard the screaming eagle stuff and not a fan.
Don't think any of the stages require mandatory Removal of the Catalytic Converter.Definitely not recommended on the over breathing 8 valve head, larger pipes and huge cat. What is standard procedure on the Twin Cam does not relate to a power increase on the totally different M8
Also can't see this illegal exercise meeting warranty claim scrutiny!

i agree. That is why im not doing the stage 1 setup i want untill the warrenty is out. I have plenty of time to research but at this point im prolly gonna trash the converter. Mainly due to sound and hopefully it will cool things down a bit down there as well. Preformance isnt and never will be a primary concern of mine with my m8. It has more power then i will use as it is stock. When i do stage 1 like i said it will be to add more sound primarly. From what i have heard the m8 isnt ever gonna sound like a evo or even a twin cam but by replacing the oem head pipe with a clear after market option i should gain a little more sound.
More then likely i will end up with vance and hines head pipe,rc components mufflers, and my powervision for the tuner. I like the power vision over the SE products for several different reasons. The power vision can be used as a gauge display while riding the bike which help monitor whats going on with my bike. An it can be used to tweek things above and beyond what the se tuner can do. The se tuner can do only so much due to the fact it has to meet epa requirements.
i payed over 20k for my bike and i refuse to let the epa tell me what i can and cant do with my motorcycle.

I agree Hollandhunter feel the same way warranty is important to me going to wait. Who knows better thing may happen down the road with these M8 motors lets give them more time to work on things.
Not sure that's completely accurate. When I went to buy the stage 1 parts, my dealer said I could choose between 3 tuners. Only one of which was the SEPST.
I have inquired here how they could offer fp3 and powervisuon tuner but never got a definitive answer. I would guess they're tuners with limit adjustments just like the harley tuner.
