Default Are the new M8 softail fuel tanks pressurized

Had a fuel leak coming from the fuel vent line. Dealer installed new check valve in the line, now when I remove the fuel cap, I can hear air pressure being released. Is this normal, or did perhaps the dealer install the check valve incorrectly?

Hope this helps.Don't know what softail m8 you have. I looked thru all the tanks and they all have a check valve. You can see how it's installed in the picture.
you should never have pressure when you open the cap. Even with a California model, which has a complicated evap system/canister and purge valve. There is also a check valve in the fuel pump system to keep the high pressure to the injectors.

What you may be hearing is the tank sucking in air since as the gas level lowers there is probably "negative pressure" building up.

Went back to the dealer and yes the valve was installed upside down. But when installed correctly the valve lets fuel leak out, so Harley Corporate says install it upside down and install new fuel cap and see how that works. Guess I'm the test mule for this issue. Just hope I don't blow up the bike and myself.

Yet another half-assed workaround from the MOCO. This is getting pathetic.

The tanks are not pressurized. The air sound was air entering the tank when the cap is unscrewed indicating a problem with the vent not allowing to enter as the gas is used up creating a slight negative pressure in the tank.
