Default Finding Neutral

Anybody else having trouble finding Neutral when engine is running? I cannot for the life of me get my new Softail Slim to go into Neutral when engines running? Shut her off and she goes right in. Maybe just because shes so new and still breaking in? Clutch seems to be adjusted just fine.

just practice, try and apply delicate pressure with the tip of your boot, rock it back and forth slightly...these can be tricky but honestly after you figure out the sweet spot it's no longer an issue

I say you have two options...(1) wait until you pass the 500-mile break-in mark, or (2) take bike to dealer for a check (clutch). Neutral can sometimes be "finicky" on a new bike...she'll settle down, but a service check isn't out of the ordinary for peace of mind.

I felt the same way but it's getting easier as the days go by

What you’re describing is normal. It should get easier after the first service once it’s broken in.

It’s a practice/finesse thing. I can hit neutral downshifting from 20 mph...upshifting on takeoff if I want to as well, obviously sitting still it’s a piece of cake. . The M8 isn’t any harder or easier then the 103. Just give it time and you’ll get better at it.

I see a few of my fellow riders struggle with it at stoplights occasionally, so you’re not alone
