What's this got to do with M8 engines? Belongs in the touring forum.

The reason for not putting in the touring section is to get data on what members prefer on late models. I personally don't care what someone is putting on their 1982 Tour Glide. What is being used on modern bikes is what concerns me and the opinions of those using something other than what I use and why they use those tires is of interest to me. And to be honest, I wasn't really even considering the Softails when I started the poll, but they are indeed welcome to participate.
Thanks for doing this poll Mark. Pouring over a gazillion tire threads didn't really aid (too much) in making a new tire decision. I think a simple poll is a great idea. I only wish you'd done it about a month ago as I just replaced my OEMs the day before you started it - go figure. However, with the early sampling from 25 guys, I probably did okay going with the Dunlop American Elites.
What is my preference? Too early to tell,
What would I replace my OEMs with? American Elites (just did)
Should I have voted? No - because of the above, my vote wouldn't be meaningful.

I believe you'll be happy with your choice..suspect the AEs will have a voting advantage in the poll due to availability..but there's some solid tire manufacturers putting out really good tires
Tires aren't a one size fit's all kinda thing, you have to take into account your bike, your riding habits and average weather riding conditions. For those who are all about the mileage on heavier bikes Dunlop's , Michelin's and Metzler are good choices as most won't ride the bike that aggressively particularly in wet weather. Lighter bike, more aggressive riding style and the best all weather tire I've ever found you can't beat Avon's. My personal choice on my shovels and hotrods for decades.
So far the stock Dunlop's that came on my much heavier RK seem to be a solid choice but I haven't had them in mountains hard yet nor in any really bad weather so juries still out on replacements when they are due.
I have done the OE Dunlop’s, CII s , scorcher. I go with performance not mileage. I would definitely do the CII again (didn’t have the wet issues some others have). But now going Avon.
Avon Cobras as of right now.
They are working well. I read hundreds reports and specs B4 the plunge.
AFAIK the next best tire is a race tire, but they will not get you very far.
