My point exactly! The wall you are talking about is ability limit of the engine. For what reason would they limit the 107 to 107mph and the 114 to 120.My guess is that you are only doing a true 115mph.My bike only hit true 122mph with Stage111 114 high compression 11.1 Pistons and matching cam.......No it just creeps up to max speed eventually,in 5th gear only.
No blasting rush,no wall.Sorry just a big strain all the way. You want rush and a 240kph wall Jump on my 40 year old VF 1000 Honda!
No, you've missed it completely. There IS a top speed limiter that shuts off the power, exactly like the rev limiter.
My Fat Bob will hit 120 in 4th, 5th, and 6th. It is limited by the SPEED limiter, not the REV limiter. In 4 the gear it will roar right up to 120, at 6000 RPM, and will not go one MPH faster, even though the rev limiter is set to 6400.
In 5th it is still pulling strong and is still near the HP peak, when the engine just stops pulling at 120.
In 6th it is.only turning something like 4500 rpm, I don't remember, but it has lots and lots further to run, but it again stops at exactly 120.
It does this on the dyno, where there is no wind resistance to overcome.
It is absolute, incontrovertible and undeniable proof of the existence of a speed limiter. Again, if your tests don't show it, then either your test is wrong, or South Africa H-D has made the determination to disable the speed limiter, or the USA has made the determination to add the speed limiter. But there is no question that USA M8's have a speed limiter, 107 mph for 107ci baggers and 120mph for 114 Softails (at least the Fat Bob, I guess it's possible that the limit might be different for different models).
Oh, and about the speedometer, I have used a separate GPS to verify observed speeds, and my speedometer reads within 1 mph of the GPS speed at every speed I dared test it at. So no, it is not speedometer error. There is a circuit in the engine that shuts off the fuel or the spark or something to limit the engine when the speedometer hits 120.
All Touring Harley's are USA built and Shipped to the UK for Distribution by Harley to Europe,Africa and the Middie east.
European Safety standards are higher than USA.
Seen this Chart before.Did you notice the speed limiter is set at 255 Kph.
We are all fools to spend thousands on Stage kits and upgrades when we should just buy aTTS tuner and set the Limiter at 150 MPH ! Or knock 30 MPH off your Speedo with a $80 Spedohealer.
Its not the speed rush of adrenaline for me. Its the sheer torque the M8 pulls. And it pulls through all 6 gears. Nothing comes close to the M8 as a stock production motor. It is by far the most inpressive motor Harley has built. For all you M8 haters that spent thousands of dollars upgrading your 96 ci to stage 4? It doesnt even come close the the stock power the M8 produces. Dont be a hater if you dont own one. Go ride one for yourself. Youll see!! Thats all it took for. Loved my 2009 ultra and spent thousands upon thousands on it in custom mods and upgrade. Didnt bat a eye about trading it after demoing the 18s.

You must not have rode another Harley with performance work done to it. A 96 motor with a simple stage 2 build makes more power and torque than a stock 107 M8!
Are you really that delicate? He's only stating facts, if you're doing 100 in the fast lane on the bahn you have a death wish. Thats the equivalent of doing 30 on a normal motorway. No one is going to come in here and say they got 140 out of an M8 even with all the mods you can think of.

135mph on the 1/4, probably hit the rev limiter in top at say 160mph without much trouble
Maybe on paper but have ridden plenty of stage 4 103 and 96. When lined up and throttle rolled at 40 mph
( no downshift on M8) it walks off and leaves both 96 and 103 with stage 4 upgrades. And just keeps pulling.

I owned a stock 107 M8 for a few months before I converted it to a 117 The stock M8 pulls better than a stock 103 but thats about it.
As far as top speed... Ive buried the needle at 120 mph pretty easily with the 117
