Thanks. So just to be clear (for me) it means there is too much oil in the crankcase (which is the transmission). If the transmission level is normal there should be no issue. Is this correct? Don't shoot me for not knowing all the right terms.
Crankcase refers to the engine, not the transmission.
You’re confusing 2 different M8 issues. The first is “transferring” where oil in the transmission is transferring into the primary. The 2nd issue you mentioned “sumping” is described in this thread by poster skid_pimp.
There have been a couple of reports of transmission oil getting into the engine case but seems very rare, the 2 issues posted about here frequently are “transferring” (from transmission to primary) & “sumping” (oil collecting in the crankcase/engine)
If the “transmission level is normal” & oil in the transmission stays at a consistent level = it’s not “transferring” transmission oil to the primary but that isn’t related to the other issue: “sumping”.

No worries man, keep reading and asking questions you’ll catch on to all the lingo. Just remember not everyone is going to run in to every problem out there, it’s not complete doom and gloom I swear. Get out and ride, the rest will sort itself out.
After all these years harley is still fighting oil issues. Back in the day it leaked. Now they cant keep it where its suppose to be an in some cases still leaks. Come the **** on harley fix the damn oil issue ****.

No, think of them as three totally separate systems.
The other major M8 issue, where transmission oil transfers into the primary, has nothing to do with sumping, which involves only the engine oil system.
