Does the '18 and '19 model touring bikes have the problem with the transmission fluid migrating?

im sure that they do. had a 17 and started to migrate oil over at about 6000 miles. bought an 18 in june,, started oil issue at around 3000 miles. now have almost 3800 and had to add 5 -6 ounces. nothing has been changed and if u buy a 19 im sure it will do the same. do yourself a favor and wait till u here of a real fix on this issue before u put down your hard earned money on this. im gonna give them tll march or april to come out with a definite fix or my **** will say bmw on it.

OP......... .......

There is a huge amount of posts over in the M8 section talking about just this issue along with sumping and other not so nice things about the 17's, 18's,and 19's. In those threads you'll see how I went through 2 different 17 RK's and now sit on a new to me 14 SGS and love it! All my fluid stay where I put them and after some cams, PV Tuner, and a dynotune, it sounds and runs like a bike is supposed to. Or at least the way I want it to...........

I had a 2018 RGS that developed the transmission oil transfer issue after 3000 miles, did the HD 1000 mile check thingy and it was fine. At 9000 miles after 1600 miles riding in the mountains it did it again went back to local dealer and HD wanted to fit the fix (that doesn't work) in my bike.
I decided to contact the dealer I brought from and did a good deal on a 2019 RGS and so far no problems
I know my 2018 RGS was a LEMON as also had clutch failure (same issue as recall addresses) at 1000 miles and excessive engine oil consumption at 9000 miles but as the Lemon law does not apply to bike in Florida decided to trade and try again.
Big shout out to 'Bert's Barracuda' in St Petes FL for restoring my faith in dealerships when the mothership let me down!

Gotta say love the 114

My 2018 RGU is transferring a small amount. I've kept a close eye on this since the bike was new last March. It was delivered to me with the trans oil AT the bottom mark on the dip, so I immediately suspected transfer. However, now the bike has 13k miles on it, with a good mix of highway, city, and bump and grind on SoCal freeways in extremely hot, and now chilly weather. I've been able to identify a transfer at the rate of approx one ounce to the primary per 2k miles.

I understand that the rate of transfer can vary, but at this rate I'm not going to pursue a fix until HD has a certain fix. It isn't irritating to me now because I can go almost 10k miles without having to add any oil to the tranny or pull any out of the primary. If the rate of transfer increases a lot, then my happiness level will go in the opposite direction and I'll see what happens. No way I could tolerate some of the transfer rates that have been reported here, such as top to bottom dip line in 300 miles. Couldn't live with that!

Otherwise, the RGU is so groovy, it would be hard for me to get very upset about such a minor thing. Most motorcycles have a small "thing" to them.
