My SGS is an early 2017 model with the original spec pump. It has never sumped in 20000 miles of mostly long distance high speed trips.I reduced the scavenger inlet from 1/2 to 7/16 whilst I was in the cam chest doing Stage 111.
To fit the new pump end plate and seal would be a 4 hr + job for me and akin to heart surgery on your bike.
You do not go in there just for peace of mind.If you don't know what you are doing,it can bite you in the ****!
The reason Im asking guys is I purchased everything for a stage 2 build. S&S 475c cam, fuel moto push rods, S&S lifters, Fullsac Xpipe head pipe and Two Brothers slip ons. The real question is with this build do you think its necessary to replace the cam plate and pump or is the stock fine for what Im doing?

Not the cam plate, but the oil pump back plate with the seal is what most agree is needed to prevent the sumping that some bikes encounter. The MoCo recommends this as well.
The 2019 parts catalog for the touring family shows the back plate with seal in it. Mine was built in July 2018 and I'll soon be installing the uncaged inner cam bearing so I'll tell you then if I have the seal behind the plate.
Just have faith.Buy it and ride.You would have to be extremely unlucky to pick up one that sumps,
if you do it can be fixed with the $27 end plate & seal.You really don't want to take advice from the Sump Singers.
You may not believe it but they seem to enjoy a perceived Infamy from the number of bikes they've managed to Sump
Dont invite them in to cause you trouble and confusion.
our 2017 hasnt and it was built may 2017 {tri glide ultra}
Thanks buddy, I have about 4000 on her now with no problem. Im going to start my mods and was curious as to what I should do in regards to sumping when I have the cam chest open.
