So with the standard smoothing idk what my true numbers are but man does this thing perform. i get why people say dont chase numbers. this thing pulls at any and every rpm. i cant get off it.
Bayou, Pros n cons to everything and certainly not all the benefits of the Baker but much of the main benefit without the cost. Dig his chart btw its very well done to show it graphically and with numbers & speed. You notice on his chart its on the 6 speed with standard 32/66 sprocket & pulley gearing.
You can also use a 30 tooth sprocket from a trike and a commonly available 70 tooth pulley. In the case of my softail which is only slightly taller than a bagger its taking you from a 2.79 down to a 3.15 final drive ratio. Or 13% more torque in every gear. And much more like the old gearing you are referring to. Some say MoCo did this for emissions.
Naturally this means 1st gear is shorter or lower like your old bikes. It also means interstate cruising would be about 300 rpms more at the same speed. Nice if you like to be closer to peak torque at say an 80 mph cruise speed. Theoretical top speed is less but in practice its not because you are not reaching say 6k rpms in top gear anyway. At any rate its an option and food for thought.
