Stage 2 107” here with the CR460 cam. It gets the job done just fine and I don’t have the sumping worries. Not interested in going bigger. Think about it - a lot of us started out on 74’s with 4 speeds and crossed the country on ‘em, albeit by carrying tools, oil, master links, etc. to the point where there wasn’t room left for luggage. I’m delighted with what’s offered these days, and don’t mind avoiding the stage 3’s & 4’s one little bit.
I haven't ridden a 107, but the 114 has so much torque that I accidentally spun the rear tire at a stop light while still learning how to drive with the wired throttle. Light years ahead of my TC88 in power.
The 19's are reported to have the sumping issue resolved.
The 19's radio/navigation system boots up super fast compared to the prior model, and in stock form actually sounds really good at freeway speeds. I don't have the WHIM installed, but a friend of mine was able to change some settings, and I can now see incoming phone calls and receive text messages than can be read on the screen or be heard over the speakers. The navigation seems to work, but even with the latest upgrade it's out of date by at least a year. The nav in my phone is better and you don't have to pay for the upgraded maps. Mine is in the shop today getting the primary vent installed, and I asked them to hook up their computer and tick the box for a WHIM installation. This should activate Apple Car Play and I can use the nav from my iPhone through the Boom system.
Given a choice, I'd go for a 19 over the 18 even with a higher price tag.
Thanks 702.
In all honesty, while on the road, I prefer not to get phone calls or texts on the bike. It's one of the reasons I ride...to drown that out.
I do like the ability to talk to my wife on back AND hear the radio while on the highway.
I always have my phone and can use it as a backup but I like having a screen to glance down at.
The fact there is a Harley app that allows you to send coordinates to the GPS is nice, I have the same ability with my RAM truck through a Uconnect app.
I think I'm sold on the 19. Now, just gotta get my choice of color and accessories, sell/trade in the old one.
I'll make sure the vent is installed, I may just have the fat rod put in...honestly, because Macomb County Chopper is less than 20 minutes from my house and less than 2 miles from a shop I shoot at frequently.
I appreciate all the advice, best wishes, etc. May be a couple of weeks or so but I'll be sure to post up what I decided on!
I figured as much based on 1-3 year old used bike prices...it doesn't sound like it's worth even looking at...
Honestly, they'll probably say they'll knock off a grand (maybe two), but even then that isn't enough [for me] to justify getting the '18 versus the '19. The upgrades of the '19 are worth every drop of $2,000.
... Now, just gotta get my choice of color and accessories. Hopefully you choose the Industrial Gray Denim/Black Denim or the Wicked Red/Twisted Cherry!

It takes longer to remove the derby cover than it does to change the rod out - very simple install.
White is top on the list.
Followed by Police Blue, then Industrial Gray/Black Denim, and lastly Black.
like the red, but unless it was satin finish like the street glide I think I'll pass.
My current ride is red and silver, I'd like to get a different color scheme...
RE the fat rod replacement, Yep...I think even with my ham fists and patience level...I can handle the install. But I like to support local business as well, so If they charge me 1/2 hour and do it onsite, so be it...I'm good with that.
Just a reminder you cant do your own break line work like bleeding your brake line or system with out a special tools. all this type of work needs to be done by a dealer. Once your break the line your ABS system will never work right again until its reset by a dealer t his is the main reason i am getting away from them. I will be letting go of my 17 Ultra Classic in two more months not going to be a slave or be owned by HD i have always done my own break work this is the straw that broke the camels back.
Since I didnt opt for the ABS on my 2017 Road King, do I face the same BS with the brakes in terms of bleeding when changing fluids? Or is it old school and no biggie?
