Default Brake Rotor Fasteners

A question for any who have removed/replaced stock front brake rotors on their stock wheels. I didn't find anything about this in the manual.

I'm about to put new tires on my RGU. Last time I did this, I left the brake rotors on the wheels while I wrenched on the tire tool. I'm thinking I'd like to remove the rotors this time to allow a couple more inches of room for my mount/dismount bar.

1. If the bolts that hold the rotors on are locktited, was it necessary to heat the wheel to free the bolts?

2. Did you replace any of the fastening hardware? Bolts, springs or bushings?

Thank you

Yes, as stated above, if removed they should be replaced. They have dry yellow loctite patches on them already, no need to add more.

Edited: they can be tough to remove, but I would not add any heat due to bearings/seals.

Thank you.

I think I'll just leave the rotors on. I did it before with them on, but wanted a little more room.

Replace with new bolts. Do no heat to remove. Use an air impact wrench and they will come right out.

Which manual are you using? My manual clearly states answers to your questions.

I’ve got a factory manual. I fumbled around with it but couldn’t immediately find the page.

In any case I was pretty sure the factory says to replace all hardware every time.

They say the same about other things, like muffler clamps but most don’t replace those every time.

I wanted to to know what riders are actually doing
