Yes, and this is another potential cause of sumping/overfilling. If you shut the bike off right away without letting it have any chance to idle down (upright), then it won't have a chance to clear the accumulated oil out. So if you shut it down right away, then measure the oil, it's going to read low, which will lead some folks to overfilling it.
