Other than the paint issue you have been lucky. I paid out of pocket for the transfer issue and my oil is burning excessively. Need to start documenting that oil usage and get it hopefully handled.

But best of luck with that great looking bike of yours!!!

1 year and 5800 hard miles on my 18 FLHTK and not one issue. Bike ran perfect stock and runs fantastic with the aftermarket goodies. Comfortable and powerful.... thing just wants to go! I've had some fun toys over the years. This one is in a 3-way tie at the top of the list, fighting to be my all time favorite.

I hope you get your bike issues sorted. A good aftermarket big-bore kit would likely solve that oil consumption issue. Just sayin'.

I just now realized that today marks my 2nd anniversary of ownership of my '17 RGS. Overall, it's been a great two years. I haven't ridden as much this year as I would have liked to, but my free time and the weather just haven't lined up well. Still a few months of the riding season left in the year to make it up.

I just completed my 15K service. The oil was very clean and clear (5K miles on 20W50 Kendall GT-1 Competition Conventional oil) and there were only a couple of fine strands of metal on the magnetic drain plug, primary and transmission fluids (HD Formula +) look great and are right on the full line (changed last at their respective services), original tires look to have another 4-5K left in them, and the rest of the checks like belt tension, etc. were good. Took the clutch and brake lever pins out for full lubrication, lubed the shift lever pivot, jiffy stand, and anything else that rubs metal-to-metal. No abnormal wear anywhere. The brake and clutch fluids were flushed and changed earlier this spring.

There were really only two concerns during my ownership thus far that were considered warranty. One was the clear covering peeling off of the horn cover applique, and it was replaced under warranty. The other was a chunk of paint that fell off of the rear fender. The dealer originally stated that they would cover it under warranty. Once it was determined that it could not be repaired and a new, factory-painted fender would have to be installed (I have the Hard Candy Red Hot Flake paint), HD suddenly denied the claim. My dealer stepped up and paid half of the $720 cost of the fender and installed it for free. Not ideal but I wasn't going to live with a chunk of paint missing from my bike.

My bike still looks like it just came off the showroom floor. I have roughly 6K miles on my FM build, and the engine is quiet and powerful. I absolutely love how that kit transformed my bike into the beast it is today. So fun to ride.

The only mods I've done beyond the 120 big-bore kit was to install the Rockford-Fosgate 6x9 lid kit, front speakers, and amp. Another worthy upgrade that I have no regrets spending the money on. I have left my bike stock-looking for the "sleeper" look.

I keep my bike meticulously cleaned. It is power-washed often. Yes, power washed. Why? I never have to do paint correction because sponges, microfiber, etc. never touch the paint. I blow it dry after using a spot-free rinse.

I don't think I will ever trade this bike. Of all the different bikes I've owned, this one has been the best. I may add another one to the collection at some point, but this one is a keeper.

In close, my ownership experience has been a very positive one. No regrets.

What king of spot free rinse do you use? Could you explain a bit more? I have power washer and blow dryer.

I have a coin-op carwash right up the street from my place. It's just soft water; I live in a hard water state.

OP You have a sharp bike. I love the Hot Rod Red!

Glad to hear like us that you are happy with the M8. We are about to hit 19k miles. ZERO issues and all smiles! Ours hits 2 years on September 28th!

I actually still have the stock rubber on and could easily get 2 to 3 k more miles but the dealer has a tire sale going and it's worth the change a little early plus the safety factor.

I think I'm going to go ahead and add the ESP. This bike is a keeper!

Ride safe

Well just hit 56K on it's 26th month anniv, has transferred a few oz between 20K service int, never off the dipstick with RL heavy, uses a little less than qt per 5K which I consider normal for an air cooled engine. Two warranty issues, left switch cluster for not starting in gear & replaced cracked front heat shield noted 2 days before warranty ended on 6-1-19 along with the clutch recall. Mods in sig done at 18K in March 2018, runs great & usually gets between 40-46 MPG depending on speed & conditions. I love this bike & leaving next week for about another month in Colorado, have put around 7K riding twisties hard out there, so I don't baby it!
