I agree with KeithHu. As these motors get some miles they start to tick. My 17 RK has a bit of a tick (25K) . I've got other HDs with a bunch of miles on them that are quiet when cool but rattle a bit when hot. The noises that slowly get louder are not the ones to worry about. Its the loud noises that happen all of a sudden, you need to worry about..
I gotta' say, so impressed with lack of engine noises on our 8/16 build oil cooled 107s..no change from Day 1, wife's has 31,000 miles and I'm at 38,000. we both just have SE Stage 1s and have always run HD 360..they run so smooth and quiet compared to all others we've owned over the past 15 years now
The M8 valve rocker arms (one pushrod actuating two valve stems) only allow for the lash to be taken up by that lifter for the valve tip with the tightest clearance. The other valve (intake or exhaust) of that pair will have looser clearance. When new, they are very close, so engine is quiet, but over time, with valve stem and rocker end wear, one CAN wear different than the other (of the pair), and that excess lash may be the noise in the video.
I understand there is an adjustable lash kit for this but haven't seen one.
I noticed top end noise. Took it to dealership and they found the plugs had been fouled with oil and oil was low. After they pulled it apart, they found a divot in one of the cylinder walls. The entire upper is being replaced under warranty....cylinders, pistons, entire top end.
Basically, what happened is that I noticed a noise. My bike would sound great when I first started it up, and then eventually the tapping would come. Idled rough after a ride of any length, but idled smooth when I first started it up.
I'm on 3rd set of these crappy HD lifters worse was the SE premium crap lasted only few hundreds miles. Seems like noise on my 3rd set is coming back again after little over 4K miles Sturgis trip. Not sure what the hell is going on every time I start the bike it pisses me off.

Sorry for your troubles. Some noises are significant sign of a problem. Your noises were also accompanied by other symptoms: fouled plugs, low oil, etc. Most noises are merely noises without any other symptoms. As any engine wears, it will get noisier. Harleys are not unique in this. A Gold Wing engine with over 100k miles on it will be pretty clacky. The ones I've heard have been. I had an 03 Honda VTX that I and my son put almost 60k miles on before selling it. A friend bought a 2005 VTX with only 5k miles on it, and one day we went riding. I could really notice the difference in noise clatter between the older and newer engines.

I was finally able to make a comparison video of another M8 against mine. The first motor is a 2019 114 M8. Both were at operating temp. I think there is a distinct noise in mine. I start with the 19, go to mine, back to the the 19 and then back to mine. I plan on changing the oil tomorrow. I have about 3,000 miles on the Mobil 1 that I put in last time. I plan on putting a non-synthetic in this time. Thanks again for any input.
There nothing wrong with your bike. In fact was far as I can tell, it's quieter than the first. I can hear an intake flutter on yours so you probably have a SE air cleaner on it.
