Not matter what you spend or add to it, it will always be missing that one thing that is important to some people...a CVO VIN. The debate of is it worth it could go on for days but what it boils down to is the CVO title weighs more than the $ involved to get it for some people.

I don't understand it, but without a doubt it's true.

Lighted switch controls ($269), Proximity ignition (who cares?), power locks (I can operate the locks manually thank you very much). What am I missing? Badges? I see a lot of guys pretend to have CVOs by copying the badges, so that's apparently pretty easy....

Heated grips are standard on the Limited, but they're pretty plain. Maybe its the nicer heated grips that attracts everyone.
I'd say the CVO list is abit longer. Only you can decide if these accessories matter to your riding preferences. For me, I wouldn't buy a bike that didn't have these.
  • Dual Heated Seat $1100
  • Heated grips
  • Power locks
  • Larger engine
  • lighted handlebar switches
  • more powerful audio
  • CB
  • XM Radio
  • Audio Headset included
  • 2 remote keyless FOB
  • Built-in Garage Door Opener
  • TP & Saddlebag liners
  • CVO Luggage
  • CVO Bike Cover
  • Toolkit
  • Highway pegs
  • Upgraded floorboards (Pass & Rider)
  • TPMS (Tire pressure readout)
  • CVO rider adjustable backrest
  • Unique paint set
  • Upgraded LED lighting
  • CVO Unique wheels

So lets break this down:
  • Dual Heated Seat $1100
    • No need, I have never in my life, even in cold weather thought this was necessary
  • Heated grips
    • Standard on a Limited (FLTRK)
  • Power locks
    • I cant believe anyone thinks this is of much value.
  • Larger engine
    • 3 cubes. Big deal. Not a material difference.
  • lighted handlebar switches
    • $269 to add yourself
  • more powerful audio
    • Still shitty. If I spend $2K to upgrade my limited, it would kick the CVOs *** in a walk. So now the difference goes from $10k to $8K. So $8K cheaper than a CVO and I would have a WAY better audio setup.
  • CB
    • Never used a CB in my life
  • XM Radio
    • The module is included but not the service (maybe 1 year, not sure). XM sucks anyway.
  • Audio Headset included
    • Same on the FLTRK
  • 2 remote keyless FOB
    • I have one FOB, never used 2 at a time, or lost one. But I understand $8k is a bargain for not having to turn your ignition switch.
  • Built-in Garage Door Opener
    • Got my remote in my glove compartment, works great, very easy access. Velcro'd in place so it stays put. Still have room for other stuff.
  • TP & Saddlebag liners
    • Never used them. Until 2020, all Limited's came with them. Does anyone really use these?
  • CVO Luggage
    • Again, not worth thousands of dollars. I already have the exact luggage I need. Very happy with it.
  • CVO Bike Cover
    • I already have a very nice Harley black and orange bike cover
  • Toolkit
    • Already have, cheap to acquire
  • Highway pegs
    • OK, about $200
  • Upgraded floorboards (Pass & Rider)
    • whatever. In fact I removed the passenger footboards because they are oafishly huge. And they sometimes hit my calves when trying to back up. Replaced with street glide pegs for not a lot of money, look fantastic, and dont bother me.
  • TPMS (Tire pressure readout)
    • The FLTRK has it as part of RDRS
  • CVO rider adjustable backrest
    • I have a backrest that I've moved from bike to bike
  • Unique paint set
    • I have scorched orange/silver flux, with Black option what could be better! The fit and finish of the paint and the black option is amazing.
  • Upgraded LED lighting
    • Cheap to add, with more options than the "stock upgraded" ones. I would also add that from what I can see on the CVO Limited this year, the rear has the fascia, so that means you dont have the holes to put the custom dynamics fillerz in there, which I absolutely love.
  • CVO Unique wheels
    • The blacked out wheels on the FLTRK are awesome and the finish is pristine.

The newer CVO's suck....unreliable, performance is bottled up and way over priced for what you get in so called extra's plus the paint schemes have been pretty bland in recent years.

It would cost me at least an extra $15k to get a new CVO to my liking just like I have spent on every other new Harley I've owned over the years. Any bike is just a starter kit in itself.

And those are excellent reasons NOT to own a CVO which explains why you don't and shouldn't. My answers to your comments would be exactly opposite which is why I would never own a bike without those upgrades. If those features matter to a rider, there is no less expensive way to own a bike with those features than buying a CVO.

Fair enough. Many of the things on the CVO you say are missing from the FLTRK are in fact not. Other stuff to add in total would save thousands vs a CVO and end up better (stereo, lights, etc). Even if you count the goofy heated seat. Still more things I already have (cover, backrest, toolkit, luggage, etc) so it would be foolish to re-buy those

But these bikes clearly have a market. It's a mystery to me, but its a big ol whacky world.
