That is basically what I was told by Goldstar (Surdyke). I have had an oil pump on order from them since 11/12. It is listed as b/o w/o date. They told me something about Harley upgrading their computers or software and that things weren't running smoothly. It does suck!
I have an oil pump on backorder from them as well, hope they figure it out soon.
I had an HD twin-cooled 8-lobe oil pump (kit # 62400248) ordered on 11/12 from Surdyke. It was delivered on 11/23. I wonder if the issue is the higher demand on the oil-cooled oil pump caused the backorder?

I talked to them yesterday. They said that although there have been problems with the system, this oil pump is just on back order. So at this time they just don't have any.

You probably got one of the last ones they had. Since I ordered on 11/12 also, you must have made your order just before I did. I'm sure they fill the orders as they're received, although I would think warranty claims probably get priority. Hey, at least I should be pretty high on the list.

That would be my assumption. Their supplier must not be making enough surplus to meet demand after the assembly line needs are met. I'm sure the MOCO is not going to risk shutting down the line for lack of oil pumps. They probably didn't realize that there were as many owners aware of the sumping problem that want to take preventive measures.
Listening to the local news today a woman contacted local news station complaining that the car that she has been making payments on has been in the shop for 2 months and shes very unhappy about this. To think she gets this kind of coverage for two months wonder what I could get get for waiting on mine for four months. The more I think about this the more Im getting pissed off about it, the days and weeks are turning into months its almost the middle of January and still nothing soon it may be the middle of February. Im going to leave it one more week then go speak to the owner and tell him how Im feeling about this.
