Thanks.
IMO Metzlers are a death wish in even slightly damp conditions. My experience with them is after a few thousand miles they become very slippery in moderate stopping situations (dry conitions) and dangerous as condions go from dry to damp. I attribute them to a broken shoulder I received due to a slide during a normal braking situation -- I now only use AE Dunlops.

i know this is outside the realm of what you asked, but from what i understand, the new commander 3s are being touted as a 'premium' (ie more expensive) tire as opposed to the commander 2. i haven't heard from anyone who has run them yet. the dunlop american elites are nice tires, imo. my last set i had 24,000 miles on them when i traded them out. still had plenty of tread, but it was cupping a little and there was some degradation in the ride so i went ahead and switched them. i changed them out with the avon cobra chromes and i really liked those. unfortunately, i didn't get to test the wear of them as my bike got totaled. but i will buy another set of them when these stock tires on my new bike need replacing.

my biggest beef with dunlop is their customer service. i had what i considered to be a warranty issue with a rear tire on the wife's bike and they completely blew me off. whereas avon was quick to respond to a different issue that i had with their tires. you don 't want my money? fine, i won't force you to take it.

i ended up going with the AE’s, the commander 3’s were only $30-40 more but decided to hold off until i get more feedback on them, the oem Dunlop were fine for the most part so the AE’s should be an upgrade and get the new bike feeling again.

anytime you put new tires on, you're gonna get that 'new bike' feeling again. it's such a gradual degradation that you don't really notice it.

the ae's are a fine tire. i just won't use them for the reasons that i put out before. but you should get a nice ride, and decent life out of them.
