I have a 2018 breakout, it just broke 5k miles and I have been riding a 2013 street glide for the last 5 years. while riding the breakout i hear a noise from under the tank that i can only describe as metal rolling over metal or scratching sound but it only happens between 2k and 2500 rpm, does anyone know anything about this? the noise also goes away when i pull the clutch.

There's a couple post on this forum about people complaining of upper valve train noise between 2000-2300 RPM.
II have a small amount of this.It is considered normal the master service tech rode my bike says I have a healthy M8.
on YouTube there's talk of this there's a company that sells a brass sleeve insert for the rocker arm where the bolt can chatter there could possibly be it.

thank you, i have to get it in for the 5k service anyways so ill have them check it out while the warranty is still good, one mechanic thinks its the clutch bearing
Rocker shaft inserts won't work on an M8.... the rocker configuration is different then previous engines... the inserts won't fit.

If you only hear the noise in neutral and when you pull in the clutch and the noise goes away it is probally the inner primary bearing.

FYI, you cant use rocker lockers on the M8 as the rocker assembly is completely different.
