I'm not sure if there are model differences. On my 2018 with the boom 6.5GT it will show on the info screen enabled or disabled. On those without the screen, like my buddy's 2019 EG, it will flash the cruise control lamp. On both, you roll the throttle forward and hold it for a couple seconds to enable/disable.
And from the manual.... Throttle position at idle, speed under 1.2mph, engine speed under 1200rpm, engine temperature above 287, and ambient air temp above 80 (on radio equipped models only).
Very easy to enable/disable. Pull up the engine screen on Boom, while idling roll throttle forward (hold a few seconds) and back a few times until you see it change.
There were some changes to the parameters that kicked it on if I remember correctly. I had thought that the pre-rushmore's had it kick on based on head temperatures and the 14's and up had it kick off at ambient + engine temps. The newer ones have it come on sooner.
I'm aware how EIMTS works, how easy it is to enable/disable, etc.
Does anyone know the actual parameters that cause it to kick on?
Temp, measured where, etc?
There are not one set of parameters that cause it to come on. The setups vary from model to model and year to year. The only thing that is fairly consistent is if the bike is water cooled it requires a min. run time and then it checks air temperature. The typical air temp reading of 80 deg F. or greater will turn it on.

Ok, that makes sense.
All,
As said, I'm aware how to turn it on/off and on my GTS screen I can see if it's enabled/disabled and/or activated.
Mine has been coming on frequently lately, however...if ambient air temp above 80 is a qualifier that certainly explains everything.
It's been very hot out lately.
I started my bike this morning, let it run for a minute or two while I put on my gear then took off. I got literally a mile down the road on 25MPH side streets and stopped at the light, it came on. I thought that was odd...however, since 80 ambient air temp is a qualifier that explains it perfectly.
To be clear, zero issues with the bike running at all. I was just curious about parameters to activate it and this certainly answers that, hopefully helps others with the same question as well.
I turn that crap off. No other Harley ever needed it before and my bike isn't running hot so it stays off, even in 100+ heat
Same same here. The choppy idle with EITMS activated irritates me. In summer, it is constant. I figure that, if it was necessary for the motor, then we wouldn't have an option to turn it off. And I am not bothered a bit by engine heat. I might enable it if I was stuck in very slow moving traffic with no way out. But here in CA we just lane split our way out.
