Default Code after SE plug/wire install

Today I installed the screaming eagle wires and plugs on my 18’ RKS 107; following the install my bike is giving a “P0031” code which is an 02 sensor code. Is this common and a result of the SE plugs, or did I mess something up? Everything seemed to go fine during the install and it runs fine. No upgrades beyond slip-ons.

Someone will chime in, but if the system is OBDII compliant that code is a fault in the heater circuit. Check the HO2S connectors for a start.

Yeah, you have a loose O2 connector, I am betting. I have the SE plugs, no issues.

The SE plugs are for high compression engines. You'll need to change your pistons now.

Now you've done it. You have started an internet myth that SE plugs will throw O2 Heater codes with stock compression engines.

You saw it here first. There will be a newb thread in 4 months: "I was told that if I change to SE plugs..."

Should we tell them about the indexing of the plugs to offset the use of synthetic oil?

I put the SE wires on my 2018 RGU a few months ago. The main problem I had was needing to re-route the cables under the tanks, away from the stock routing of the stock cables. The SE wires are too thick to fit in some places, and if you don't get them snug in to the frame, there will be a VERY close interference between the fuel tank and the cables going to the front cylinders.

Once you get that fitment problem ironed out, they work fine. No difference detectable from the stock wires. No codes. Frankly, I regret paying the extra for them. I let the parts guy at the dealership talk me into them. Next time I replace wires I'm going back to the stockers. I replace the wires whenever I replace plugs. They're cheap, and replacing them eliminates the danger of screwing them up during removal. Besides, these "wires" degrade with time and operating conditions.

Did you check the plug gap on all four plugs and are the wires fully seated on plugs?

the gaps were checked and all good before install, and plugs seemed to click in—though it’s tough on the right side. Going to re-check that and the 02 plugs now. Thanks for the help guys, should be able to narrow it down now
