107 for a few bucks becomes a 114 or a 128 or .... It is a Harley changes of those types are easy. The 107 is plenty for most. A quick cam change a canned Power vision tune turns it into a new bike. Parts will be around a long time. Even if for some reason HD is not. My 107 served me well. I made it work harder than most tugging a sidecar.
if you waiting waiting for the prefect bike , prefect buy. It will show up 5 years after you are dead.

I thought the stroke was different on a 107 vs. a 114, didn't know you could turn a 107 into a 114 or 128.

The stroke on the 114 is longer than the 107. The only way to "turn" the 107 into something bigger is with the Big Bore kits. The 114 also has twin counterweight balancers. Also, the "few bucks" that it would take is about $1000. for just the piston and jug kit up to $3500. for a complete stageIV with cam, 64mm throttle body, injectors, lifters, pushrods, and heads.

The stroke is different. But the 107 can still be turned into a 114 (look at the original Harley Stage III kit); it won't be the same 114 as a stock 114 (bore x stroke will be different) but it will still come in at 114ci. Using that same Stage III, the original 114 becomes a 117.

You can also turn a 107 into a 119 (the new Harley Stage III); a stock 114 would turn into a 122 using that same kit.

You can also turn the 107 into a 128, but it's different from everyone else's 128. Most places offer 124 and 128 kits, the 124 is for a 107 engine, the 128 is for a 114 engine. But Harley's Stage IV kit turns a 107 into a 128, and a 114 into a 131.

I would be more worried about having to swap the engine out for an electric one !

Bigger is not always better with displacement on a harley engine for longevity, 107" is a nice spot for the M8's. Mine will stay there.

I would argue a larger engine that makes more torque will last longer than a smaller one that needs to work harder. There is no reason an engine with a 4.250 bore would last longer than one with a 4.000 bore...all other things equal. I would trust a set of S&S cylinders and pistons to last longer than OEM ones.
