Not a high mileage thread, coming from an 09 ultra classic both the 107 and 114 motors will be a welcome upgrade. My concern with the 107 is if the rumors are true and it’s being dropped from the line up how long down the road will there be parts support? I’m already having issues finding parts with a different 20yr old bike. I kept my ultra 10 years for reference. Which brings up another question will the 114 be the stock offering going forward with the 117 becoming the option in the limiteds and specials? And a 131 in the CVO’S? I know there will always be bigger and better in newer models and I’m good keeping what I have until it doesn’t do what I need and I’m not a performance nut. But these are the things I ponder when shopping during the winter 😂😂😂

Hard to predict what the future of MOCO will bring. But, I's pretty easy to imagine that it would go the way you have outlined. I also believe that it would be a long time until you can't get parts for 107 M8. If I kept waiting until the next best thing came out, I would have nothing. It just so happened that right at the time I was ready to buy, the M8 was released. I still waited a year. I got the motor that I was waiting 30 years for!

Most parts on the M8 are interchangable. I would find something else to worry about.

I completely agree, not really waiting just while shopping weighing the difference in the bikes one has the 107 one has the 114 and one has the 114 RDRS and color I want. Obviously there’s a price spread between them and two different models, just trying to get the best bang for the buck....

that's what I did, as close to future proofing as I could but of course next year the touring models will have direct injection and mono shock frame..just get what works best for your current overall circumstances and ride and enjoy now...no guarantee tomorrow will even arrive for some of us!

I just bought a 107 just so I could get the Road King I wanted (standard height, chrome, standard bags, lights). When the time comes for parts, the aftermarket usually makes better versions. I sold a 98 Road King 2 years ago and parts wasn't an issue for it. Maybe paint matched parts will be very hard to get after 10 years.
