An entire staff keeps these builds rolling smoothly, when your bike is here for an engine build all hands are on deck and the focus is on your motorcycle, we don't do tires or general repairs, we do specialized performance work & tuning only. The front office sorts the estimates & work orders, once the build is scheduled our engine dept. has all of the components pulled, staged, and ready well in advance, when the bike arrives the office staff checks in the customer and goes over the details while we get ready to make the initial dyno evaluation. We get rolling with the teardown, depending on the complexity of the build there may be two technicians. Once the motor is apart we carefully inspect the components; some of which will be reused. We check/measure crankshaft runout, the lifter bores, connecting rods for anything abnormal such as side play or damage on the small end, we disassemble the oil pump, and perform assortment of other checks unique to the M8 engine. If we are reusing their stock cylinder heads the engine dept cleans them, inspects the valve seats, CC's them, and replaces valve springs/seals if necessary, if the chamber volume or surfaces need correction we machine them in house same day, if the heads require porting or seat/guide work we have ready to go heads on the shelf. We have the big bore components ready to go beforehand (bore clearance, ring end gap set etc..) One tech starts engine reassembly and sees that thru, cylinders are installed & deck height is checked (corrected if necessary), typically the second tech will perform the clutch & misc work and start getting the rest of the parts laid out & ready for final assembly. By late afternoon the motor will be ready for initial fire up, bike gets put in the dyno cell for a series of stationary heat cycles, next we perform the dyno break in process, followed by a full dyno tune. I perform the great majority of tuning myself, I'm typically here late every night. Lucas is also getting very good at tuning as well and it will be handy once we have the second dyno set up in our new building addition that will be finished up this spring. The next morning we perform the cold start and put any necessary touches on the tune, then back on the lift to install the final parts like exhaust heat shields, saddlebags, etc.. and we then perform the final inspection. While we do the build we also perform a 40 point inspection and hit quite a few adjustments & maintenance items. Bike is generally ready for mid-late morning pickup.

I wish FM could have completed my 128 build but I trust my local dealer and I’m excited to feel the results. Dealer will start my tear down early next week, can’t wait....FM 128, Woods cam and a few other things...

Yes, I too might be going that route. I would love to ride out to FM and have them do the upgrade, but the ride from Philly to WI sucks.
