Has anyone tried running aviation gasoline 100LL in a M8? This is more of a curiosity question than anything else although I thought it might be handy in the winter time because of the high shelf life of this gasoline.
Not trying to sound like a smart aleck...but unless your motor needs the octane, I’ve never had an issue with any engine, be it race motor or lawn mower, with some fresh fuel, either stabil or seafoam prior to putting it away for storage. I let the motor run a few minutes so it can mix and get through the fuel system.
For me...if it ain’t broke...
There are some other things about AV LL gas. It has less specific gravity, which means it will run leaner in your bike... will the ECM/Fuel system make the adjustment? Probably.
It also designed for use in lower RPM motors, 3500. While we probably don’t spend a ton of time over that... it does mean you could be wasting fuel from an inefficient burn at higher RPMs.
It’s effective octane rating is 96, FYI.

I don't run it on a regular basis as I said I top off my fuel tank in the fall because the avgas lasts longer without degrading, as far as catalytic converter's my bikes don't have them. I have been doing this for 20+ years never had a problem would I run it every day no but it does help keep the gas fresh in the winter
Ran AVG in a few bikes back in the 80's but they were old iron and the lead was a plus and I worked in a hanger 50 yards from a pump. Today with all the sensors and EPA bs on a bike no way..
My old hotrod shovel stroker sure did like it

If you have to put your bike "away for storage", you live in the wrong place. lol
Seriously though, never had a need for it. My bike never sits more than a few weeks at a time. Now my lawn mower, I've had gas go bad, so I do use some stabilizer in that during the winter.

It's mainly about getting away from the Ethanol. I picked up a new ZTR mower and its the first new lawn mower I've ever owned and I plan to take darn good care of it. The dealer made a point about Ethanol free gas and I've already lived that nightmare with mowers/saws/etc. I've been buying ethanol free for some time now however I moved and the closest source is the airport with LL100.
Now there is a service station with 90Octane ethanol free its just a bit of hike for me now. I filled up my Twin Cam 103 there many a time and that motor liked the ethanol free.
