I quit using synthetic in 07. I use HD dino in the engine and never an issue. HD Formula Plus in the Primary and HD gear oil in the trans. One stop shopping.
Yeah the only difference I can tell between the redline synthetic and belray conventional is the belray stays exactly where its supposed to and the redline was all over the dipstick and in the crank. I have no clue why that is but for whatever reason it has sworn me off from synthetic in this current 128, plus the pros with WAY more knowledge than me recommend conventional so Im good with that.
Right on, glad it is working. We are riding through that epic heat wave this week, and I am glad I have synthetic, for now. Damn it is hot! This is Harley killing weather.
If mine sumps on this venture, I still have 6 quarts of Belray at home

All of my summers are epic heat waves in the southeast! Hope you have a safe and fun trip!

We came back a day early, to avoid the oncoming heat onslaught. Supposed to be 116 on Tuesday.
Did 1940 miles, and it appears to have burned 1/3 of a quart. Checked it hot on my garage floor like I always do. I will stick with the Lucas for now.
My buddy has the FM 128 as well, he burned 1 quart of the HD synthetic
Quik, one thing that I did notice, was how noisy the compensator now is at an idle when the engine is smoking hot. With lopey cams like you and I have, it really seems to pound on the comp at idle, and is very loud when the engine is hot.
I am getting my Evo Industries clutch basket on order, so that I can get that CR comp installed.

Glad yall had a safe trip! Yeah Ive been researching the self destructing comp ramp and I feel sure that will be my next move, replacing it. Let me know how yours turns out.

HOLY $h!t it's HAF here and got 3 more days of even hotter..I just hope our 24 year old AC unit holds up...no riding reports or pics this week from me...good call on aborting the mission early....have friends leaving in the morning at 4 am to get to Spokane for Day 1, on a three week ride to Mid West..once they make tracks out of the West here they should be ok

Yeah, 106 today, and up from here. We rode through a couple of 100 days...it's like sitting in front of a hair drier. Burned the fun out.
