Compensator Problem?
Before I tear into it, I thought I'd ask for other opinions. This is a new issue that just recently appeared. Oil was changed less than 1k miles ago, but there wasn't an abnormal amount of metal on the drain plug magnet. I've inspected the engine mounts, they're good.
It doesn't have the clunk at startup or shutdown, but while accelerating or decelerating and passing through 2k rpm I'm getting a nasty vibration. It's not violent, but shakes the fairing like an old twin cam 88 at a stop light, or if you're old enough to remember - the 25 cent bed at the Motel 6. Pulling the clutch in at these times and maintaining 2000 ish rpm makes no difference. It also does it while stopped if I hold the throttle at 2000 rpm whether in gear or not. No abnormal sounds when I slip the clutch with the front brake locked up.
I think I hear a gravelly sound when this happens, but my hearing isn't what it once was.
The only other thing I've noticed is a hesitation at the 1-2 and 2-3 shift if I'm just poking along. Doesn't happen during hard acceleration.
Thoughts?
