My ‘21 Road King
I’ve been looking for a used King for a few weeks now, and narrowed it down to a 2014 and a 2018. I was leaning towards the M8 just because. While at my dealer, I was telling the sales manager (who I BS with, from time to time) that I was probably going to go for the 2018. It was a 107 w/1400 miles for 16.3k which would have ended up at 17.6k with tax. He said he could give me the ‘21 right over there for about 3k more, out the door. Kinda couldn’t say no to that. So I didn’t. Picked it up yesterday. Only put a hundred on it today, but I gotta say, the quiet exhaust, and buttery smooth motor is a nice change. Not that the road glide wasn’t smooth, but it definitely wasn’t quiet…
I’m honestly thinking about leaving it stock for a while. Maybe some slip ons for a little more sound. I guess that’ll mean an air cleaner and a power vision. Suppose if I do that, might as well get a cam in there. Or a 124 kit. And some heads. Just kidding. Stock for a bit. Sure.
Anyway, here’s my build thread.
Did a few things today. Flashed to keyless ignition (disables the ignition switch, bike is powered on and off by run/stop switch exclusively) with my diag4bike, installed LED headlights, and moved my Ohlins and Corbin from my soon to be sold Road Glide. Waiting on bars - going to use the same Wild1 MX bars I had on my last RKS. Ordered a H-D oil cooler fan & love jugs (Florida after all), a 21” vented Clearview Shield, and a Klockwerks “level” fender since I’m not a fan of the metal crap on the ends of the fenders. Also a Custom Dynamics probeam smoked tail light, Ciro rear panel LED’s, and a bunch of other doo-dads. Got to figure out what to do with that stupid, giant rear turn signal bar. No idea why that even exists anymore…
Probably going to save a few bucks and use Racetech internals for the fork for now. Also ordering Ness big brake rotors.
So here’s what I got so far. Exciting huh…?

But your dealer can do it, yes. It’s called “Keyless Ignition” in BCM settings. Just have them enable it.
