That was the dealer not HD. This is from the HD site, score over 740 qualifies. Remember though that the rate is also dependent on additional amounts financed over MSRP as well as terms over 60 months.

I guess I always assumed HD rates were sky high. Give me 2-3% and I'd finance it.

Are indy dealers allowed to raise interest rates and take a cut. Or only big dealers that have their own banks.

In this case I can not speak from experience but my guess is they can as well. I would think they would use 3rd party financing like maybe Capital One or a Local Bank. In that case the lender offers a rate to the dealer based on the qualifying criteria, I would think the dealer could then bump the rate.
The best way to ensure this doesn’t happen is know your credit score and know what rates you qualify for at a local bank or Credit Union. Normally you can call them and they will share their range of rates as well as qualifying criteria.

Shady but at least the HD guy I dealt with had the decency to be honest when I asked him how he kept dropping the rate with a keyboard stroke.

Washington state limits interest hold backs to 2%. So the damage can’t be catastrophic
