I truly do not like the side fill gas tank. You have to watch it and lift the gas nozzle filling slowly to try to get it just below the metal insert and even then the gas gauge never shows FULL. I much prefer the center fill tank. Now on the list but below the give a crap line.
that was one of the things that i actually liked about my cvo. with the side fill tank, you get a lower profile dash as well.
in your case, i think you might have something else going on. with the side fill tank, you can actually get more in a fill. so much so, that it can leak out if you try to fill it too full. did it once, learned my lesson, never again. a couple extra ounces of fuel is only gonna net you a few hundred yards. you shouldn't be running your tank that low anyway ;D
Nice color combo!!! I just purchased my RGS with the same color combo 2 days ago. Much different ride than my 2020 Low Rider S, but with bars and seat and suspension it will be much better.
Figured out the side fill tank and it is embarrassing a bit. With my SG I got into the habit of pulling up close to the pump and filling with my feet down (not the kick stand) to fill it. If you do this with the side fill tank it will never fill. However, if you put the bike on the kickstand and then fill it then it will fill completely. Humbly admit my ignorance in public.
It was such a simple plan. Meet up with a bunch of Vets at one of the Harley dealers in DFW to ride escort for a bunch of Medal of Honor recipients up to Gainesville. What I didnt expect when I went inside to grab a water was a brand new 2022 Flat Black Road Glide Special. I love the Denim/Flat black. A lot of people dont but I do. My 17 SG was flat black as well and that is one of the primary reasons I bought it.
So I walked around it, sat on it, took some pics and went out. After the third trip back in the Sales guy followed me out with a smile. I told him I wasnt looking to buy a new bike and he offered to work up some numbers while we were riding and he would call the next day. He did, I went back and drove it. I hated it. I had always heard that a bat wing owner should never ride a street glide or they would be instantly converted. I thought it sucked. Went home that night and called a few friends who ride RGs. My buddy brought his 2022 RG LTD over and I rode that and it was perfect. The difference was the windscreen height and the seat.
Next day back to the dealer and we put a Klokwerks 14 on it and my Danny Grey solo. This time it was perfect and a they agreed to transfer over all my stuff that I wanted to keep including my custom 21 front and 18 rear wheels. A few hours later they were done and I am now a Road Glide owner.
Put 500 miles on it in a few days and I am amazed at the handling difference. It is so light in the front and feels much more agile and, to me, better control. I am quite happy and I can quit chasing that squealing back brake on my 17 SG now.
yes. I had 4 batwings in 13 years. They look better. More traditional harley. I'm 6ft 2. Always felt cramped. I went with a new 19 rgs. Much more open feeling and better mile crusher on the highway. Not worried about the looks anymore.
As I cross the 5,000 mile milestone having ridden to 11,110 ft, sea level, mountain rides, desert rides…having gone from 106.5 on the freeway to 52 degrees in the New Mexico mountains in one day. I have used the rain setting on the traction control in driving rain storms. I have used the hill assist and love it. At 30 MPH with hands off it tracks perfectly straight, same at 90MPH. And after solving the sidefill tank issue I can honestly state that I can’t find a flaw in this bike. There is nothing I don’t like.
That being said, there are things I will change, the radio/amp being one and I may put on the CVO rear fender but, for me, this bike is flawless.
Bat or Shark. One is not better than the other. I would never try to convince anyone of what they should do except to maybe ride both if possible. My first ride on a Road Glide felt a little weird for about 1/4 mile and then I just went with it. At times I find it hard to explain and maybe that's the mystery of bikes and personal preferences. After 3 years on our Ultra Limited (which I loved) the RGL felt dramatically different on the road to me. It just handles more instinctively for me...lighter touch on the bars...almost like flying at times. I'm gonna quit before I get too enthusiastic. I love the looks of all Harleys, but give me a Road Glide if I'm gonna ride.
