Default Did an oopsy

Evening all.

I’m hoping someone can tell me what’s going on with my bike.

Tonight I was doing a little testing, changing out baffle inserts, riding for 10 minutes calmly. Doing a pull up to 80 then riding again calmly for a further 5.

I did this twice. Outside temp was 60f

As I was coming back home after the second test, I was joining the off ramp when my engine lost all power and cut out. I pulled the clutch in and coasted to a safe place.

The engine management light and oil light were on. I looked under the bike and could see a few drops of oil which I assumed was coming from the vented dipstick.

I left it 5 minutes, started the bike up like normal and got home without any issues.

I inspected the bike when I got back and could see that the oil is coming from the dipstick that I have vented to atmosphere but is also coming from the casing.

When the ignition is on these lights are still displayed but turn off when I start the engine.

Please could someone shine some light on this?

Thank you in advance!

You need to check Diagnostic Trouble Codes. That will shed some light on what happened.

Just had a look and the only error code on there was regarding my rear turn light (I’m sorting that with custom dynamics atm)

Does the oil light and engine management light usually stay on when ignition is turned on?

I can’t remember

Can't speak for your traces of oil, which are very close to your vented dipstick but you're asking if your oil and engine light should be on if the ignition is on and the engine not running? My bike is at the dealer at the moment or I'd go check it for you but I want to say yes, because you have no oil pressure and the engine is not running. I'm thinking that part is normal.

I just checked this on my 2018 Tri Glide. They stay on with the ignition on and the engine not running.

whenever your ignition is on, but the engine is not running, your oil pressure light and cel will be on.

Thank you to everyone that has replied regarding this. That’s one less thing to worry about regarding the lights.

Any idea what the oil leak from the transmission cover could be? Pressure build up forcing its way out, maybe?

Might need a trask checkm8, who knows..
