Default I did something stupid!

So guys let me first say I’m not a troll. I have been a loyal Harley rider since 2007 and have never ridden any other bike in my life. I absolutely love my CVO and to me it’s the ultimate bike. Last weekend I was in Raleigh and passed a BMW DEALER. I went and test rode a k 1600 grand American touring bike in midnight color. 160 hp and I fell in love. Smooth fast and corners on a dime. Guys, I might need a slap in the face to talk me out of trading in my bike. I was that impressed. Do you guys have any experience with the beemer. If so what are the pros and cons. I was also considering it as a second bike and can have the best of both worlds. Really torn but I figured if someone had any advice they could throw some my way. I do plan on doing a lot of long distance touring across this great country. I appreciate any input. I love this forum you guys rock thanks

I am going to be of No Help at all here... (New to me 2 weeks ago.)

The Low Rider has its place (but it 'aint 500 miles from home (at my age,) anymore )

I still have to have a Harley at all times regardless.

Ask about the maintenance costs and if you can work on the beemer with the tools you currently have.

I'll never understand how people can never ride anything but Harleys, that's like never eating anything but steak and never trying anything else in your whole life. Sure steak is great but man there's a whole world of different flavors out there!!!!
I say go for it and while I'm spending your money japan and Italy have some very fun bikes that you would probably love too!!!!

I have a 2015 K1600GT. Different model, but the same engine.

I would not say the BMW is better. I would say it is different. It is a kick in the pants to ride.

The K1600 is better than your HD for knocking out serious miles at freeway speeds, and plenty of power for the twisties. I find the riding position significantly more comfortable for big mile days.
Your HD has a few advantages
- low speed handling. The Ride Like a Pro guy says the only motorcycle that is worse than the K1600 at low speed handling is the DCT Goldwing. He blames this largely on the way BMW does fly by wire throttle control.
- much simpler engine - The BMW inline 6 isn't known for having issues, but you don't have a prayer of fixing it on the road. The M8 is much simpler in comparison.

As far as maintenance costs go, if you dealer maintain your HD, a BMW is comparable. There are things about the BMW that make home maintenance a pain. For example, resetting the ABS if you do fluid changes. You can get a gadget called a GS911 that can reset the service counter, and help do the ABS brake service.
