Removed Harley Davidson gas tank emblem left smudge.
Anyone have a suggestion on how to blend gas tank paint with paint where Harley logo was glued? Paint is 2017 Charcoal Denim.
can I ask how you removed your OEM badges?
got a buddy who needs to do similar on a denim but he's replacing with a different style badge, and I've been hesitant to use a heat gun for fear of it leaving such a mark on denim (works fine on regular paint)
fortunately my bikes denim tanks came with the badges removed (previous owner) before I opted for the bar N shield logos. No idea how/why he removed the OEM
CVOooooh no it’s not 😎
For the naysayers: I don't get the hype about having or wanting a CVO. it's just a regular H-D with 10K of bells and whistles applied on day one. Nothing unique about it.
Would rather do as I've done and change things out the way I want them. Not trying to be anything but mine

IMO, nothing wrong with that emblem. Who cares if some CVOs have it, I honestly didnt know they did and dont associate it to them. Its a generic HD logo, not like it says CVO. If it did, it would be a different story. Would then be as bad as putting an SS emblem on a non-SS Chevelle or the like.
One of my bikes is denim paint, **** is fragile. Definitely a big con. If it were me, Id seek out any local reputable HD painters and see what they would suggest. One slip up on that paint could result in a tank repaint, if you dont already need one. As said, polishing it will put an ugly sheen on the denim paint.
Im with you on people that put M emblems on non-M BMWs. I have a Z06 and a WS6 so I really cant stand when people put them on base Vettes or Firebirds. Im seeing Hellcat emblems on regular Chargers and Challengers a lot these days, terrible. I think a generic brand logo is fine, although Im generally not one to ever touch the emblems except to maybe remove them.

Agreed.
You will never win Keith over, but I am with you on the tank badges that are nondescript. Some are just better looking, and unfortunately that outline bar/shield is the most subtle tank badge for bikes like the Specials.
I definitely don't see it in the same light as putting SS badges, or M badges on a car that is clearly not that model, the same as if I bought "CVO" badges (that actually say CVO) and put them all over my bags, etc. of my Special.
As a BMW (car) owner and enthusiast, I always shake my head when people put //M badges on their non M BMWs. Silly.
I totally misread that, thinking you meant BMW badges on another brand car. lol
Yeah that is silly. I would never put anything on my RGS that SAID CVO to try to pass it off as a CVO, but if I want different badges that I like better, or if I want to add the extras that come on a CVO stock, then yeah I'd do that no problem.

If that is adhesive, it can be removed; if scratched, it will need to be repainted...
Klock Werks matte paint cleaner, should take care of it, if it is just adhesive residue. Buddy uses it on his matte/shiny mix paint CVO and it works great for both paint finishes. If its scratched from removing the emblems then nothing but a paint job will fix it. In the pictures you provided it looks like just residue left on. Good luck.
