Default Ventilator Breather Question

I have seen a few pictures where the two breather screws were connected with a piece of hose.

Please explain why this is done and where did the right angle breathers come from?

Thanks!

I am not familiar with the M8 head breather configuration and how to externally vent. Twin cam head breathers can be routed via fittings and hoses to externally vent the crankcase to the atmosphere, small filter or catch can. I am sure there are some M8 members that have externally vented and can provide "how to" details.

I vented my M8 through an HD Ventilator air cleaner to a catch can/filter under the bike. I sold the bike last year and these are the only two pics I have. Headed out to dinner. Can answer questions later.

I run one to keep my intake tract cleaner.

I drilled one hole and used a brass T-junction and some high temp hose I found on Amazon for a few bucks.

On my Sportster the hose and filter dangles just below the A/F and so far, has never dripped a drop. If it did pee a little, I'd wipe it off.

Direct to the ground. Pro-tip: if you run enough hose down along the frame to get the hose horizontal (not pointing down) it won't drip...

LoL, Definitely not a pro tip and not on my 17' RGS. You are correct that it won't drip, but on my bike it will spray oily mist all over the underside of my bike. That's the reason for the catch can.

Pro-tip for a 17 RGU that will absolutely not work on a 17 RGS: run the hose all the way down the left side frame rail exiting behind the trans case. Zero spray on the bike - no catch can needed.
