Thanks for your pic. If you look at the pic in my first post, you'll see that for the rear TDC the dots don't lineup either. So as far as TDC goes, the dot on the crank is never at six or 12. The dots are only for cam sprocket to crank sprocket timing. Thanks Lonewolf.

OK, I'll rotate it some more tomorrow and see what happens. I'll let you know.

That's not accurate info. The lifters may be bottomed as it is on compression stroke but not tdc. The rear fires and then 405* (crank rotation) later the front fires.

Rotate the engine to valve overlap, note where the crank dot is for reference then rotate 1 revolution = tdc compression. You can cut the pushrods

Once again, a simple process becomes rocket science...

The lifter of the pushrod being adjusted only needs to be on the base circle of the cam, the piston does not have to be exactly at TDC. The valves stay closed for close to half a revolution of the crank past TDC.

When first lined up, I could spin the intake pushrod but not the exhaust on the rear cylinder, so I went past TDC a bit I was able to spin both. I think I was on the exhaust stroke, not the compression.

So I spun the rear tire a few times today to line up the dots again, I could spin both the intake and exhaust and cut the pushrods. Moving on.lol

The original sprocket retention kit Part No. 25566-06 is still called out in the online parts manual, but...

There is an updated sprocket retention kit available: Part No.91800088
