I've been covered with Progressive since I re-started my riding career in Nov 2016. Never had a problem they didn't fix quick, with no drama. Decent rates for the Florida panhandle.

Find a local agent and deal with them for all your needs.

Talking to people outside of your location about insurance is really useless. Different states have different laws and regulations. you just need to research who offers insurance in your state, and shop all of them. Be sure to compare policy limits and deductibles as some will try to manipulate your quote to get you to purchase.

Do not forget about multi-line agents who can do this for you.

Florida here so no insurance company bundles **** for us. I have a separate policy for progressive for the bike and just completed a claim and every time Progressive paid out quick. My adjuster spent 4 hours in my shop going over my bike and actually came out appraised about $1500 over what I was calculating myself. I've made 3 MC claims in my life and no time has been my fault but this time I was hit in the side by a deer so we'll see if my policy increases from that since I made a claim like it did on my auto. I purchased straight from the site as a local rep was about $120 higher for the same policy. My adjuster also informed me that the additional parts and accessory coverage actually adds value on top of quoted value of the bike, which in turn makes your overall payout (and totaled threshold) higher.

I have had Progressive for a long time. I had a couple of claims years ago and they were very easy to work with and very responsive. This second go round with them, I have been fortunate enough to not have to use the insurance, but I was satisfied with the cost of the insurance for what the policy covered. There may be other options out there that are a little cheaper, but in my experience, Progressive knows how to do motorcycle insurance very well.

This is strange.
I wonder if State Farm has different rules for different states?

I ask because I have State Farm for my 2015 Ultra Limited.
In Missouri, their motorcycle policies are yearly, not 6 months.
I pay just over $512 per YEAR for my policy with full coverage.

Homeowners, Motorcycle and RV are yearly policies.
Auto and Truck are 6 month policies.

I live in Florida, a high insurance cost state. I have Progressive and it is very reasonable. They also let you add coverage if you have done any motor work and/or added any pricey accessories.

When I lived in Virginia I got good rates from DairyLand.

I was with state farm for 35 years and they kept raising my rates. Went with Progressive on my bikes for the last 13 years. I insured 2 bikes for less than 1 was costing with State Farm.
Still have State Farm on my home for now, but will change next year when it comes due.
Just changed my cars and trucks over to Progressive from State Farm because of price and got more coverage too.

I should add that the Progressive claim for my wife's Heritage last year was one month before the policy renewed and they didn't raise the premium. This year when the policy renewed it actually went down a little.

For both claims they paid up to $500 for safety apparel (gloves, jacket, helmet, etc.) and $3,000 for added accessories, including custom pinstriping, with no depreciation. (You have the option to raise the accessory coverage)

Both bikes were totaled because of minor frame damage so I did a lot of research to determine Actual Cash Value. (Oklahoma state law considers a vehicle totaled when salvage value plus repair cost exceeds 60% of the Actual Cash Value) When Progressive gave me the settlement amount for the bikes their offer was virtually the same as what I came up with so there was no need to haggle with them. The standard policy pays up to Actual Cash Value (Market Value) but you can also opt for full replacement coverage for bikes that are less than 2 years old for a slight premium increase.

I also like that I can add and remove vehicles and change coverage and limits at any time though their website and never have to talk to an agent. I get instant quotes for changes and can print new ID cards immediately after making a change.

I'm not sure but I got the feeling SF was just the middle man. The prices I mentioned are full coverage on a 2015 Ultra Limited and 2007 Dyna.

IN the USA, there is not such thing as a nationwide company. There are corporations that are licensed in many, if not all, states, but they are still legally separate companies. Each state has insurance regulations, and they are not all the same. So the "national" companies have to comply with every state they operate in. Moving from one state to another means different insurance regulations, different stats, which all means different rates. Moving from one zip code to another can also mean different rates.
