Motorcycle Insurance DiscussionThis is the place to discuss what type of Motorcycle Insurance you carry or any problems or good experiences you've had with certain companies.
Any yay's or nays on Progressive for our cycles? I've been with State Farm forever but they just increased my policy by 20%. Zero accidents, claims or tickets, I questioned a SF agent and was told it's because of all the uninsured vehicles and unlicensed operators populating this crap-hole of a State. Thank you...
I signed up with USAA (have my homeowner's and auto insurance through them), but they don't write motorcycle policies so acted as an agent for Progressive.
I've had awesome experiences with USAA auto insurance, but, luckily, so far have had no cause to test the Progressive policy.
I had Progressive for auto insurance when my son turned 16. They TRIPLED my premium and took it down to only DOUBLE when I specifically excluded him as a driver (he had auto insurance through his Mother for his vehicle and was only at mine half the time). I dropped them shortly after.
So I guess bottom-line is that they're about as greedy as any insurance company (including USAA). Their commercials claim that they're motorcycle-friendly, but commercials aren't fact checked.
I've been using Drive Insurance (Progressive) for many years. I have full coverage on my 1991 Sporster, only $157 a year, in California. My premium has stayed the same for the last several years, which is one of the few things that have not gone up in price, although I wish it was like marijuana and gone down 50% over the last couple years

State Farm in VA subs it out to Progressive. I have my autos and homeowners with State Farm.
It was cheaper to just do the Progressive online directly with Progressive.
I did the bike and my two college student's cars with Progressive. Now I never had to make any claims.
I liked being able to pick and choose amounts of coverage and compare on line.
I was never able to bundle my cars and homes with Progressive. Both are homes are in flood zones and they don't mess with handling flood for FEMA. Least they didn't use to. That may have changed.
Now I did find one strange thing about Progressive. They have a credit score on you determined by how you pay off car loans.
So all was good for years until I noticed a slight increase and a flier in the policy that I didn't qualify for the lowest rate. I showed them my credit score which was very good. I had only financed one car years ago.
I dropped them and took it thru State Farm. His commission made it about the same.
The next year, they offered me the old rate and apologized.
It's all a racket. Price shop. They see what you are doing when the other insurance you are checking checks them
And it's best to not use them for small things like glass and such probably.

I switched my bikes from State Farm to Progressive earlier this year. It was over $500 every six months with State Farm. Now it's $665 a year for the same coverage amounts. State Farm was still cheaper for the cars and house.
I’ve made two claims on our Progressive motorcycle policy, one on my wife’s Heritage last year and one a few weeks ago on my Ultra-Limited when I hit a deer. Both claims were handled quickly and I was happy with the outcome of both.
I just changed from Progressive to State Farm. My home owners went up to high with Progressive and I like to keep everything in one basket and pay one bill at the same time. So here is the break down, Homeowners at SF 950.00 less a year, MC 75.00 less auto at SF higher by about 100 bucks every 6mos.. So at the end of the day saved 600 bucks. I had no problem with Progressive just home owners costs. Im sure SF is a good co.
