Motorcycle Insurance DiscussionThis is the place to discuss what type of Motorcycle Insurance you carry or any problems or good experiences you've had with certain companies.
I check rates every year. I'll go with whomever gives me the best rate for 2 cars, 2 bikes and my home. I left Progressive a year ago, because they upped my rate for no reason. That and at the time Allstate was much less. I am begining my comparrison in the next 2 months...I'll once more go with the lowest price..
I too had a very bad experience with Progressive and will not ever consider them again. Their claim service is very poor (don't ask how I know). Just consider more than cost when you shop - claim experience must be tops for me. Then cost.
I've had good luck with Progressive. Their rates were very low and they paid a claim immediately on the last bike.
My rate even went down after the claim as it was a comprehensive claim (deer accident). I recently switched my cars to Progressive as their rates were MUCH lower than what I was paying.
Progressive under pays on everything.I have been in the bodyshop business for 20 years and they under pay every claim.
You wait until your bike gets stolen or hit and see what they pay
you.I bet you anybody that has them will be pissed.
WOW!Thats scarey stuff.I know you mentioned you had a lawyer on it but they dont always like to do the legg work.Might I also suggest contacting your local attorney general as well as your states division of insurance with complaints.
I've got a wonderful lawyer who always let me do all the leg work for her-she is my hammer....This is Louisiana where usually our attorney general is himself under indictment aong with our insurance commissioner so I doubt they can help.
I don't understand. They were auto deducting from your account so why do you owe them if they didn't cancel the policy? If they weren't auto deducting they would have billed you for the policy. If they didn't receive payment, the policy should have non renewed for non payment of premium. If they somehow renewed your policy without payment, you must've received billing notices.
I have no issues with Progressive and will stay with them. I don't like the idea of any dealer, or anyone else for that matter, letting a machine go into the hands of anyone that doesn't have the endorsement. I don't care how good of a rider or how much experience they claim to have. Take an MSF or Rider's Edge course then go buy a bike. Alot of "stats" are because of guys with more money, or credit, than brains or knowledge.

Yep, that's just it....Progressive had full access to my checking account via auto pay authorization for 7 years!.....They could have legally taken any monies they claimed I owed them at any time....
The policy was paid in advance via auto pay, to expire three weeks later where I was actually due a refund for the 3 unused weeks.....instead I had double coverage with Geico those three weeks and never chased a refund from Progressive.
The whole point of my post is to expose their extortionist-like tactics they use to make you a higher risk due to invalid bad credit ratings and force you to be less attractive to their competition......they cannot compete any other way, so they use the convoluted and complicated-almost impossible to correct credit reporting system to level the playing field in their favor.
This is a good example of why cancellations should always be done in writing. Damn crooks. They rob you at penpoint!
State Farm's policy (at least with me) is to send you a notice within 30 Days that you don't pay a bill that you will be cancelled. They also send a written confirmation of any telephone cancellation. They will actually FAX that notice out ASAP if requested. Now that I think about it, I bet it is my agent that does all this for me. Part of her value added.
Soooo...perhaps another key to remember is do you trust your agent? He or She can make a significant difference.
