Short term insurance for the u.k.
We have been offered a HD bike to ride during our trip to the UK on June 6th. BUT no-one can offer us short term insurance (even as an add on to the owners insurance) unless we are actually renting a bike. Bizarre! has anyone done the house/bike exchange vacation and if so how did you handle the insurance issue?

Went to EU 2 years ago(starting in England ) and called every # I could find for ins.while there ..no luck till I got ins from the german triple A... 3 months for 40 euro ... and they were suprised when I told them my Cali triple A had said they knew nothing about ins in EU ... the german guy said they had a reciprical (spelling?) agreement with triple A and the american agent should have known about it .... BUT ...that was for my bike cali plated with me as the rider .. if you are using someone else's bike ... then no idea .... the english ins agents were NOT helpfull at all and all thought I was crazy ...I had to have a permanent residence in England to get ins according to the several I visited and phoned ......good luck
