Motorcycle Insurance DiscussionThis is the place to discuss what type of Motorcycle Insurance you carry or any problems or good experiences you've had with certain companies.
Harley now uses Progressive. They used Foremost, but they raised their rates....toooo high. So Harley, Progressive, Geico are all about the same in FL. I pay less than $400 per year total for 2 Harleys and 1 Yamaha, $500 deductible theft collision towing ect. But do not carry additional medical as I have good health care coverage. Insurance may be less in FL as motorcycle insurance is not required in FL, really.....
As I found when I shopped for Bike insurance rates that were the best, about 80% of the companies out there are just re-selling progressive insurance. This of course will vary by geographic location but it's what I found in my area. I would get with progressive first and then take it from there. Just call them direct, they give discounts for many things. Homeowner, multi-policy, HOG membership, etc.......
USAA is underwritten by Progressive. They have some pretty good deals!
I was on Progressive, then switched to geico last year. Was told to check out Diaryland this weekend. Much more motorcycle perks, IE towing, car rental, lodging etc..
I was paying nearly 400 for both bikes using 500 deductible (clean record) and standard options. Dairyland is 200. 234 with 100/300/100 and 250 deductible.
Switched.
I had Dairyland insurance on my 93 Mustang Cobra when I was in my mid 20's and it was dirt cheap. Never heard of the company until they did my quote as they wrote for 7 different insurance companies.
I'm in Virginia, and just switched from progressive to Foremost. I've got two bikes, a 2010 Street Glide and a Jap cruiser around 800cc. I was paying $706/year. I switched to Foremost and have identical coverage, except added roadside assistance, and now pay $458. I tried to give Progressive the benefit of the doubt and called them.. told them what Foremost was offering. The best they could do was meet in the middle.. so I said SEE YA!
I've had Progressive for years. My rates go down a few dollars a month every year. Never had a claim. I pay around $400 a year. My other insurance is thru MetLife and they said they couldn't touch Progressives rates.
Look into Rider Insurance. Their website lists the states that they are currently writing in. They offer roadside assistance and up to $8,000 in accessories. Things to take into consideration with insurance is that rates are variable based on:
Location
Age
Engine size
Though my bike is getting older, I think I have a great rate through these guys. Plus they've been doing only motorcycles for over 40 years. Check them out- www.rider.com
Problem with me, I live in MA and I don't believe insurance on motorcycles is competitive. Called my agent that I deal with for my truck and she quoted me 1230 for the year for my bike, evidently my premium is high because I haven't had my motorcycle license longer then 5 years ? Guess I'm at the mercy of the insurance company .
I might have to look into the HD insurance I figured being through them it might have been more expensive, I got progressive now but im gonna have to take a look
