Utah bound...
Some buddies and I are headed out from the Texas Panhandle across southern Colorado into southern Utah. Plan to hit Zion Nat'l Park and then loop up to Moab before heading home. We do the Colorado thing all the time but never southern Utah. Hitting Mexican Hat, Hanksville, Excalante, Zion and Moab. Any advice on roads, eats, lodging, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, JMc

The ride from the road UP (and down) to and from the Sunset Grill is amazing. Cliff style.
View is really NICE!
Many famous people ate there.
GREAT story so read the story on/in the menu. I think also on the website.
Eating outside is really NICE.
Gd food.
It was recommended to my wife and myself and I would definitely go back there.
If you go there my friend..........enjoy.

"Swinging Steak" in Mexican Hat is a good time, get gas before you head up to Hanksville, nothing and I mean nothing in between the two places. Amazing road and scenery, but no gas at all.
Thanks for all the input; here's our unofficial but close to being done trip:
Day 1: Dalhart, TX; Taos, NM; Chama, NM; Pagosa Springs, CO
Day 2: Durango, CO; Cortez, CO; Mexican Hat, UT; Hanksville, UT
Day 3: Escalante, UT; Hatch, UT, Mt. Carmel, UT; La Verkin, UT, Cedar CIty, UT, Long Valley Jct.
Day 4: Panguitch, UT, Salina, UT; Moab, UT
Day 5: Moab, UT; Ridgway, CO; Ouray, CO; Durango, CO, Pagosa Springs, CO; South Fork CO
Day 6: La Veta, CO; Cuchara, CO; Stonewall Gap, CO, Trinidad, CO; Dalhart, TX
All days average around 330. We get around late, eat breakfast around 8:00-9:00 then roll out. Stop for pics, snacks, and usually try to be off the road around 4:00-5:00 pm. Hang out, shower, eat, drink, visit. Start over.

Well the 2022 summer trip is over and it was great...sort of. On day two, my steering head decided to let loose in Bluff Utah. My six buddies went on and I nursed it back to Four Corners HD in Farmington NM. Kent and Goats got me in at 8:30 am the next day and out at 10:30. Bearings were good but dry. Repacked bearings and buttoned everything up tight $180 YES, that's correct $180 and I watched them do it. It drove like a new ride. Headed across Arizona and caught my crew in Brian Head UT for the night. Hit Moab the next day then South Fork CO and then home. Thanks for the suggestions. Had the Ho-Made pie in Mount Carmel Junction and Pasta Jays in Moab. Great trip.
