I'm coming up for the first half, rolling into N. Conway that Friday the 9th and headed out Tuesday the 13th.

First time for me. Plan is do some rides the first half of the day, make our way down towards the rally for the afternoon/evenings and hang out

Thinking I may be too ambitious with planning the ride lengths, sort of forgot to factor in traffic. Oh well....we'll see

We actually booked a room in Laconia for two nights June 12-13 for $650. Hope my calculations are right and I can make it there by then.

Is it unreasonable to try and average 300 miles a day over 8 of a 10 day period taking back roads most of the time. The other two days will be in and around Laconia. This will be the longest trip and most days in a row for me. Normally average 250 over a four day trip. Thanks for the replys so far.

Hard to state what is unreasonable for someone I don't know. Last year for my Laconia trip the wife and I each did ~1600 miles over that week including up and back routes on backroads (PA>NY>MA>VT>NH), so an average of 225 miles a day. We are both mid 50's and in reasonably good shape physically. If you got something specific you are concerned about, post up a reply.

Not unreasonable for an average to experienced rider. Keep in mind if the days start getting long, jump on the Interstate for a couple of hours and burn up some miles. On the interstate that is 4- 4.5 hours of riding, could start early and be done by lunch. Back roads are more fun but take longer, but you are there for the ride so have at it. Just remember, maybe one day you do the highway and get an afternoon off. Good luck.

I was hoping to do Hwy 62, from Ky to Niagra falls in two days. Hwy 20 from Niagra to Albany., and then 7 up to 4 in two days. Room is booked for two days in Laconia 12-13. Day two there is for Mt Washington and then Portland Me, and hope to wind up in Boston or Providence. Then on to DC and then work my way back to Ky. I bought a tour pack for the street glide, because the wife unit is riding with me. Just getting pre trip jitters. Thanks for the insight, and or places I must see in these areas. Never been to Vermont NH or Maine.

Ah right, I remember your post on that Route 62 plan, that way does look awesome. The one piece of information you put in this last post, about riding Mt. Washington though and any "jitters". You may want to search out some YouTube videos on what that is all about before attempting, and make damn sure your brakes are in excellent shape for the ride down. I know they paved the final section of the road at the top in the last year or so, but I've not personally seen it. You can always take the Cog Rail up and still see the top as an alternative, I do know that is quite popular during the rally, so tickets beforehand are a good idea.

If you are going that way, I would recommend Route 3/93 through the Franconia Notch, North of Lincoln, NH, and taking that to 302 over to Mt. Washington.

Tuesday the 13th is the Tower St Hill Climb Expo by the way. That draws a big crowd in the morning and may be something you want to check out if staying right in town.

If you or the wife have any reservations of fear of heights-no guard rails, steep inclines ,narrow 2 way road then do some research on the Mt Washington Auto road--I do it every year and every time it's a different challenge due to the cars or bikes in front of you---they will tell you at the bottom the weather forecast at the top [be prepared for a [35 degree] difference the wind speed and "NO Stopping". Some a holes don't follow rules and stop for a pic in their car which has you stopping on an 80degree incline and 35degree slope--not fun--Not trying to deter you from taking the ride--just a PSA--- enjoy NH's beautiful scenery, hospitality and awesome rides for the bike. It does seem like you're squeezing a lot in the trip, but reasonable ---you will like the area and probably be back to see more

Work commences on Mt. Washington auto road repairs. Not sure if this is the newly paved section towards the top, but looks unfriendly at the moment.
