I have been following the development and planning of ride to Alaska and back in honor of a fallen Navy SEAL (Lance Vacarro). Wondered if any HOG chapters, Patriot Guard or other groups are planning on riding in support of the cause?
The Plan
Memorial ride starts in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Trip out or Route A leg last 16 days and goes from Virginia Beach to Seward, Alaska.
Once in Alaska, crew will partake in the Independence Day Festival, and run in the annual Mount Marathon Race to the top of Mt. Marathon and back to town (1.5 miles each way).
The Return Trip or Route B leg will last 13 days and return home (Virginia Beach), entering the U.S. in Montana, then traveling south to Richmond for the RTB (Return To Base) Leg to finish off the adventure.
My wife and I caught up with "Team Lance" in Coralville Iowa two nights ago. They had just finished day 27 of their 31 day ride. They will finish Sat morning. What an inspirational group of vets. They are on Facebook and have a web site at Ride4Lance.com
