Default Lyndall Z Pads

I've always ran Z pads on my softails and Ultras with great success......especially the almost no brake dust part. But just put a set on my 2014 Limited front and back, and I have to stand on the brake hard to stop. Lyndall claims 20% more braking power, but this set is NOTICEABLY less stopping power. Not liking them so much on this bike. Think I'll call them tomorrow just for the heck of it to see what they can tell me.

Did you lightly sand the rotors?

I just put a set on my '15 Ultra Classic. Man, are they smooooooooth......
I believe the Z pads have to break-in 200 or so miles.
Could try 'bleeding' the brakes.

I didn't sand my rotors....never had to with my other Z pads. And my stock pads were stopping fine. Hopefully they'll do better once broken in. Lyndall used to give recommendations on how to break in their pads. These said none required. ??

I used the Z pads on my Wide Glide with good results. I've been really happy with the stock brakes on the Limited and figured it would be better with the Z pads. I planned on replacing them this winter and ordering the Z pads. Now, I'm second guessing that decision...

I've always had good results too, always good stopping power and hardly any brake dust. But for some reason these are a huge difference in braking power. I'm having to really hit both brakes hard, especially the rear. May wanna try the gold pads ...?? Gonna call Lyndall today.

I would put a piece of 1,000 grit paper on a sanding block and spin the rotors a few times on each side to give the pads a fair chance at bedding. That should be done when you change any brake pads.

Lyndall said it could be due to Harley's new rotors....??
Anyway, they're sending me the GOLD pads to see if they work better. Worth a try.....if not, I'm going back to HD pads on this bike.
