I'm looking to get some work done on my 97 FLSTC and I am a complete mechanically moron; as such, was wondering if any of you guys knew of a VERY good, reliable, dependable and knowledgeable business in the Up State area of New York State. In short, I live about an 1 1/2 south of Rochester so any where within a couple of hours would be great if you know of anyone.
The work I want/need done is a new cam installed, carby and ignition.
Hi. I live in Rochester NY. There's a shop down the road from me called Vern's Automotive. He has treated me VERY straight with several cars that needed work. He does bike work too. I have only had him do tires for me on the bike (I do most of my own mechanical), so I can't speak to much on that. But if he does anything close with bikes as he does cars you'll be good. He is a biker BTW......He has been very honest with me.
Thanks mate, personal experience counts for a lot! You do your own mechanical work, how hard/complicated is it to do what I am looking at having done? Any tricks to it or is it pretty straight forward for someone who knows what they are doing?
Last night I emailed them about the work I wanted doing and had a response before 7:00 am this morning. That response not only stated that they could do work and do it as soon as I got the bike to them BUT also made recommendations for parts as well.
when I first emailed them, I told them what you guys had suggested for improvements. Scott replied with an option for a carby, basically saying that I didn't something as good as the S & S Super carby. I assume money had something to do with that or perhaps he thought it was just over kill for what I wanted done. Either way, he was great and quick with his responses.
In short, Scott seems great to deal with, prompt, informative and upfront.

Never heard anything negative about this place. I just wish they were a little closer to NYC. Well, maybe not! I'd go broke! Let us know how it goes!
