Default Trip in June

Have a trip planned in June and would like to take a detour through NYC on the Friday. No idea what the traffic would be like. If I crossed the Lincoln Tunnel in the AM and went straight through the city and left over the Brooklin bridge any ideas of the actual time this take. Google map has it at 25 minutes. What time do I have to be gone by to avoid the rush home. Sorry sort of vague ...suggestions

Thanks in advance

Seriously you don't want to detour through NYC. Was working up there yesterday. Took about 45 min just to get to the tunnel after the fist toll. Traffic is pure craziness.

Unless it's a must off your bucket list, definately not a good idea.

There is always a "rush hour" in and out of the city but 11am - 2pm would probably be your best times to do it.

Good luck!

I live right by the Lincoln tunnel and my wife drives in through the Holland. You can sit in traffic for 40 minutes just waiting to get into the tunnel. Getting across Manhattan is another story. That being said, Fridays in the summer are not as bad as other days. A lot if people take off and do long weekends or have summer Fridays( every other off or 1/2 days). I would wait until at least 10 till you attempt it and try the Holland instead. Not as busy as the Lincoln. Avoid midtown. If you go through too late, you will encounter the 1/2 day traffic going to Long Island on the other end. Usually will be ok up till 2. Stick with the large through streets as well. Traffic flows better. Don't throw out the idea of doing it though. Nothing like the sound of a Harley rumbling through the concrete canyon.

Thanks

I actually never made it to the CBGB punk bar before they closed and wanted to go by the original place (Bowery & Bleecker St in Manhattan) to grab a snap shot. So ya it was on my bucket list but worried about sitting in the heat/traffic with the bike. I also have to be in Atlantic City that night.

So if I were to head through the Holland Tunnel -6th -Houston -Bowery to the Manhattan/Brooklin bridge? Would that be 3-4 hours?

Thanks for any help

Brooklyn bridge won't take you to Jersey.

If you are planning to go through the Lincoln tunnel on Friday, do it after 10:30am. The traffic would have died down by then. Once you get into thr city head east on 34 street to 5th ave. You will pass by the Empire State building. Make a right onto 5th Ave and head south down to 8th Street. Make a left onto 8th Street heading east until you get to 3rd Ave which will turn into the Bowery. Make a right on 3rd Ave which turns into the Bowery for about 6 blocks and look to yur left. It's called the Morrison Hotel gallery now.

From there continue south on the Bowery to Canla nd get on the Manhattan Bridge going to Brooklyn. Get on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway which is 278 going West or South towards the Verrazano bridge. Go over the bridge and stay on 278 west in Staten Island till you see 440 south. Get onto 440 south which is the Westshore Expressway. Take that to the Outerbridge Crossing. Cross over the bridge and look for signs that say Garden State Parkway south. Take the Garden State south to Atlantic City.

From the tunnel to CBGB should take you around 30 minutes. I would get out of the city no later then 2 to head down to AC. The ride from the city will take you approximately 3 hours to AC. Have a safe trip.
