I was on the way home from work this afternoon on route 287 around 4:30 today and saw what none of us want to see. Looked like a red H-D bagger down in the southbound lane between Kinnelon and Boonton. Four state troopers and a huge traffic jam. Anyone hear anything about this?
Looks like the female rider didn't make it, If the below info is correct...

I can tell by all the blogs on this page that this is a well read newspaper. That man and woman on the motorcycle were friends of mine. NO, the woman did not survive the accident, her husband is in ICU no news on his condition.
Thanks for sharing that I hope all involved come out okay. High speed flat tyres are a ******.
I run I-287 regularly to cut over to the NJTP from I-91 when heading south. It is a highly traveled and at times pretty congested road. Its dangerous in a car never mind 2 wheels. Far cry from the I-87. Still better then I-95 anyday.

I also run it often cutting over from the Garden State Parkway to I-684 on my way from PA to CT. That stretch after the Tappan Zee Bridge Eastbound is one of the scariest section of roads in the Northeast in my opinion. Lots of construction, jersey barriers, and lane shifts combined with cagers talking away on cell phones cutting across three lanes of traffic to make an exit. I only take it to avoid the GW Bridge and the Major Deegan when heading North. Not too many good options when heading North / South unless you really want to go out of your way. The only other section of road I find scarier is the Garden State Parkway around the Route 1 and Jersey Turnpike intersections. Six lanes in each direction and cagers cutting across ALL of them at times to make an exit. Scary S***.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the husband and both of their families during this most difficult time.
